Whether you're a party girl spending too many late nights on the town, a new mom not getting enough sleep, having an allergic reaction to a new skin cream, or simply getting older, waking up to puffy eyes is no fun.
They will go away…eventually, but if you want to help speed up the process try this quick fix.
Puffy Eyes Teabag Trick
Take a couple of green tea or black tea teabags and soak them in hot water for about 15 seconds. Then place them in the fridge for 20 minutes to cool them off. Next, lay down with your head elevated for about 5 minutes with the teabags on your eyes. Even 5 minutes might seem like forever so set a timer. Before you do anything else such as cleanse your face, first let skin dry completely. You should feel the skin tightening as it dries.
Milk and Grape Juice Facial Cleanser
After you've dealt with the puffiness factor, try this gentle and soothing facial cleanser. Remember not to touch your eyes too much because you don't want to irritate the skin any more than it already has been.
½ teaspoon grape juice (red or green)
1 teaspoon Powdered milk
½ teaspoon Aloe vera gel
Place powdered milk in a small bowl. Add grape juice and stir until milk powder is dissolved. Then add aloe vera gel. Mix thoroughly. Scoop a small amount out of the bowl using your fingers and gently massage face with your fingers. Rinse with lukewarm water. Pat skin dry.
Raspberry Leaf Toner
If you normally use toner, try the following recipe for Raspberry Leaf Toner. Raspberry leaf has astringent properties that tighten and shrink the surface of the skin. It's also good for soothing irritated skin. If you don't normally use toner, then skip the toner and apply moisturizer.
3 Raspberry Leaf tea bags
1 cup of boiling water
Steep the teabags in the boiling water for 15 minutes. Remove teabags and let the raspberry tea cool until tepid. Then apply by splashing on face or using 100% cotton balls, not the synthetic ones. Can be made ahead and refrigerated.
Apply your favorite moisturizer and you're good to go!
