If your skin needs a lift try this easy to do at-home steam facial treatment. All you need is a large saucepan, a large hand towel, water, and a stove. Fresh herbs and essential oils are optional but a nice addition. They can be added at any time before the water boils.
Before giving yourself a facial treatment, thoroughly cleanse your face and neck using this gentle oil-free exfoliating cleanser. You might also want to try the Chocolate Orange Mask after your facial. If so, be sure to prepare the face mask before you give yourself the facial because you will be applying it while your skin is still slightly damp but not wet.
1. Gather all the necessary supplies-hand towel, saucepan, chopped fresh herbs, and essential oil--and set everything up on the kitchen counter that you will need for the facial treatment.
2. Boil a large pot of water. Add herbs such as thyme, lavender, rosemary, or sage, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil such as Aura Cacia Essential Oil Lavender. When the water boils, remove the pot from the heat to the counter.
3. Bend over the pot and drape a hand towel over your head to capture the steam. Your face should be no closer than 12 inches from the steam. Use your judgment as to how close you want to get. Set a timer for 5 minutes and keep your face immersed in the steam for the full 5 minutes. Then pat face and neck dry with the hand towel.
4. Apply the mask or moisturizer to your face and neck.
